Sick at home
Tänään en mene töihin. Olen sairas. Aamulla kurkku oli kipeä. Päätä särkee. Yskä on paha. Lämpö on kolmekymmentäkahdeksan astetta.
Soitan esimiehelle. Sanon, että olen flunssassa. Esimies sanoo: "Pysy kotona. Lepää hyvin." Hän on mukava.
Vaimoni tekee minulle teetä. Hän laittaa teehen hunajaa ja sitruunaa. Tee on lämmin ja hyvä. Juon sen sängyssä.
Otan parasetamolia. Lääkkeet ovat kaapissa. Yritän nukkua, mutta yskä häiritsee.
Iltapäivällä menen lääkäriin. Lääkäri on terveyskeskuksessa. Odotan vuoroani. Nimeni huudetaan. Astun sisään.

English translation
Today I'm not going to work. I am sick. In the morning my throat hurt. My head aches. The cough is bad. My temperature is thirty-eight degrees.
I call my supervisor. I say I have the flu. The supervisor says: "Stay home. Rest well." He is nice.
My wife makes me tea. She puts honey and lemon in the tea. The tea is warm and good. I drink it in bed.
I take paracetamol. The medicines are in the cabinet. I try to sleep, but the cough disturbs me.
In the afternoon I go to the doctor. The doctor is at the health centre. I wait for my turn. My name is called. I step inside.
The doctor asks: "What happened?" I tell the symptoms. He looks at my throat and listens to my lungs. He also measures my blood pressure.
The doctor says: "You have an ordinary flu. Nothing serious. Rest for five days. Drink lots of water and tea. Eat fruits and vegetables."
I get a prescription. At the pharmacy I get the medicine. I go home. My wife is waiting. She has made chicken soup. The soup is the best medicine.
