Why I love Finland
Muutin Suomeen kolme vuotta sitten Ukrainasta. Aluksi kaikki tuntui vaikealta — kieli, kulttuuri ja talvi. Mutta nyt olen löytänyt syyt, miksi pidän tästä maasta.
Ensinnäkin, luonto on upea. Suomessa on tuhansia järviä ja suuria metsiä. Kesällä aurinko laskee vain hetkeksi. Talvella lumi tekee kaiken hiljaiseksi ja kauniiksi. Olen oppinut pitämään talvesta.
Toiseksi, suomalaiset ovat luotettavia. He eivät ehkä puhu paljon, mutta sanansa he pitävät. Jos suomalainen sanoo "tulen kello kolme", hän tulee kello kolme. Tämä on minulle tärkeää.
Kolmanneksi, kaupat ja palvelut toimivat hyvin. Ruokakaupassa on aina tuoreita tuotteita. Joukkoliikenne on täsmällistä. Terveydenhuolto on hyvää ja edullista.
Haastavin asia on ollut kieli. Suomi on vaikea oppia. Mutta minulle on tärkeää puhua suomea, koska haluan olla osa tätä yhteiskuntaa. Opiskelen suomea kolme kertaa viikossa.
Suomessa on myös hyvät harrastusmahdollisuudet. Olen liittynyt lauluryhmään ja käyn säännöllisesti uimassa. Olen löytänyt hyviä ystäviä sitä kautta.
Suomi ei ole täydellinen maa. Asuminen on kallista ja talvi on pitkä. Mutta minulle se on koti. Toivottavasti saan jäädä tänne pitkäksi aikaa.
English translation
I moved to Finland from Ukraine three years ago. At first everything seemed difficult — the language, the culture and the winter. But now I have found the reasons why I like this country.
Firstly, the nature is magnificent. Finland has thousands of lakes and large forests. In summer the sun barely sets. In winter the snow makes everything quiet and beautiful. I have learned to appreciate winter.
Secondly, Finns are reliable. They may not talk much, but they keep their word. If a Finn says "I'll come at three o'clock", they come at three o'clock. This is important to me.
Thirdly, the shops and services work well. At the grocery store there are always fresh products. Public transport is punctual. Healthcare is good and affordable.
The most challenging thing has been the language. Finnish is difficult to learn. But it is important to me to speak Finnish, because I want to be part of this society. I study Finnish three times a week.
Finland also has good hobby opportunities. I have joined a choir and I go swimming regularly. I have found good friends through that.
Finland is not a perfect country. Housing is expensive and winter is long. But to me it is home. Hopefully I will get to stay here for a long time.
